The brain activity of dyslexic patients differs in certain areas as compared to normal subjects: The superior gyrus and mid-frontal gyrus are the seats of reasining and control of eye movements, as in reading. Dyslexic patients show less activity in these areas than normal subjects. The superior temporal gyrus processes visual discrimination, such as recognizing numbers, letters and speech. Dyslexic patients show greater activity in this area than normal subjects.
