Portrait of William II (William Rufus, 1056 - 1100), King of England. Engraving from the 18th or 19th century, possibly 1830. (Crest) Embattled and chained circle containing two lions, surrounded by bow, arrows, axes, swords and a spear. (Left bearer) Wears plumed helmet and chainmail. Bears a long spear and has a sword held by a chain. (Right bearer) A more dashing figure with a broadsword, wearing loose-fitting doublet and hose. (Lower side cartouche with caption) Death of Rufus. (William Rufus is pierced by an arrow while out hunting.) (In bottom loop) J. J.
