DESCRIPTION
Members of the upper classes ('Society') at The Crystal Palace Exhibition in Sydenham, south London. The Crystal Palace was constructed in Hyde Park for The Great Exhibition in 1851 and was moved to the Sydenham Hill in 1854 where it was altered and expanded. It burned down in 1936. From “The Queen - an Illustrated Journal & Review - Christmas Number” from December 1861. The newspaper was published in London and was aimed at mainly upper class people who would attend court functions and society events.
